JB's BOARDWORKS
Log Railings
For all log railings, fresh local wood
is used. Posts and rails are fashioned
by hand from Spruce and Pine, and
all balusters are hand-cut and
finished from Alaskan Willow.
The individual components are installed, held in place and to each other by wood dowel pegs. The
balusters are tapered at each end, and inset at the top and bottom into floor and rail.
As well as standard hinge hardware, pivot systems can
be made with pegs, as shown in this kennel gate.
Shelves may be added for practical purposes. These are supported by Willow struts and attached directly to the posts and rail.
While they are usually made of standard lumber, they may be finished to match or coordinate with the railing assembly.
The pegs are cut, sanded flush, then sanded smooth
and finished to customer's preference.

"The Log Guy"
A variation on a theme- an interior stairway railing made entirely of diamond willow, with the main feature being
the main landing post, which has almost 100 small to medium diamonds in itself! The rail is shown here unfinished-
it will be coated with a clear gloss varnish.
